Global and routine coagulation assays

Global tests provide information on all reactions leading to the formation of fibrin. They enable the user to detect severe acquired or hereditary coagulation disorders in both the intrinsic and extrinsic coagulation system.

The activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) is among the most important global tests. Our ready-to-use CEPHEN™ aPTT liquid reagents allow for examining the entire endogenous coagulation system (except for platelet count and function). We also offer reliable reagents for prothrombin time (PT) and thrombin time determinations. Moreover, we supply a wide range of deficient plasmas for thromboplastin time or aPTT test usage.

Increased concentrations of fibrinogen (precursor to fibrin) are observed in case of inflammation and are considered as a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and thrombosis, while low fibrinogen concentrations are associated with bleeding tendencies. Numerous variants of fibrinogen have been described in association with bleeding and thrombotic occurences. As for the determination of fibrinogen, our test kit LIAPHEN™ Fibrinogen stands out – a latex-based immunoturbidimetric assay for immunological determination of fibrinogen on coagulation analyzers that features ready-to-use liquid reagents with high stability. Other fibrinogen test kits, e.g. for the Clauss method, can be found here.
